    Female trying to gain muscle, any suggestions?
    I am fighting that uphill battle, trying to go against my hormones and gain muscle. I know that Testosterone is a very big part in muscle gain, but I also know that I can do this without any foreign substances. I refuse to take anything other than an occasional Advil so there is no way you’ll get me near anything else. I do eat a clean diet of baked and broiled chicken, turkey, and fish. I also take about 20-40 grams of whey protein in a day. I drink all my water, 8×8 everyday sometimes more. I hit the gym 5x week generally, and I also swim.
    I’m hoping that someone out there can help me out with a great tip that I didn’t know about! I really would like to add about 15 pounds of muscle weight.
    Yes I lift, yes I do low reps high weight…No I will not take Creatine, Creatine is very hard on your kidneys.

    Yes, sadly it does have A LOT to do with gender. Ask any medical professional, women don’t have the same chemical make up that men have that allows them to add muscle so easily.

    I work out with a trainer (female) that competes. In between her strict diets for competitions, she has a very high calorie diet. She also ups her weights, just fewer reps.

    what are you DOING at the gym? down the reps and up the weight on your weight-lifting (you do lift, right?)
    and maybe cut down on aerobic cardio but up the anaerobic cardio.

    that way you don’t burn so many calories, but up your muscle mass.

    This has nothing to do with gender. That extra protein you’re taking in? You can speed up the way your muscles absorb it with Creatine Monohydrate. It works by stimulating adenotriphosphate production. Simply, you muscles absorb more protein while you hydrate. Just don’t injure yourself with it (it make you pretty strong).
