The worst effect of body building is bone deformation. If you contrinually do an exercise wrong, your bones will receive the pressure of hte weight instead of your bones. Muscle can rebuild, but if a bone is pressured, the joints it works on can be worn down, and the bone itself can be damaged. The usual effect of this scenario is stunted height growth.

For the most part people body build to create a ripped muscular body. To accomplish this you must stick to a weekly regiment that includes days devoted to working the major muscle groups to build the muscle and days devoted to cadio activity to create the ripped look.

Also you must regulate your caloric intake to lower your body fat below the normal range for men and women. Men have about 18% and women 22% body fat on the average. These are very rough numbers. To accomplish this you need to live on a diet of chicken breast without the fat and lettuce. Because the diet I just described won't keep you alive you will need to suppliment the diet with protein, slow digesting carbs, and vitamins.

    So now for negative effects:
Work out; muscle damage, ligament damage, running injuries, gym accidents, electrolye imbalances
Diet; vitamin deficiencies, loss of too much fat, muscle growth imbalance, hypoglycemia
Combination; When you lose fat you also lose muscle. The one muscle that you don't want to lose mass in is you heart. This can lead to heart failure. You can become to enamoured with your ability to lose weight. This can lead to anorexia.

I love the lean ripped muscular look. Just make sure you do your homework before you get into a life threatening situation.
